“Everything can be taken from a person but one thing: the last of human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

Psychotherapy and Consultation

Welcome to my psychotherapy, consultation, and spiritual guidance practices. I am a licensed psychotherapist in California (lic.#50312) and Maine (lic.#MF6972) with over 25 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families to heal and thrive. I work through telehealth as well as in-person sessions in Portland, Maine. Through my Spiritual Guidance practice, I offer support and “spiritual friendship” globally, as well as consult, mediate, and provide facilitation to spiritual and religious organizations, communities and teachers in crises, and to develop strategies to create and maintain organizational health. My training spans a variety of traditional and modern psychotherapeutic modalities including: Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Somatic Experiencing, and Transpersonal Psychotherapies, as well as over two decades of immersion in yogic practice and philosophy. I have extensive post-graduate training in trauma healing, and all of my work is trauma-informed. I am committed to a lifelong and ongoing study in my field.

I fully believe that psychotherapy is not only about overcoming wounds and working through problems and traumas, but about healing, thriving, becoming relationally healthy, vocationally empowered, and fulfilling our highest potential as human beings. No matter how wounded, traumatized, or unstable the individual, couple, family, or organization finds themselves when entering my practice, I am able to see, and help them to discover, their fundamental goodness and gifts, and provide a steady, safe, compassionate, and confidential space in which healing and thriving can and will emerge.

“Everything in life has two aspects: if you know how to use it, it becomes an advantage, and if you don’t know how to use it, it becomes a disadvantage. Every difficulty is to be converted into an opportunity. For every challenge I receive, I say, ‘This is a love letter from the Divine, and I must find an answer from within.’”
